Hello!

My name is Trevor Rutherford and I’m a composer, producer, and musician with a passion for learning and education. Many of the topics I’m interested in fall under the umbrella category of music. Here’s a non-exhaustive list of those topics in no particular order:

• Music theory

• Jazz piano

• Audio technology (synthesizers & samplers, recording techniques, digital signal processing, music information retrieval etc.)

• Music for film, television, and games

• Song writing (especially finding out what I like about a song by breaking down its arrangement, lyrics, mix, etc.)

• Music history and culture

• Music production

I do my best to continuously learn about these topics through listening, reading, practicing, and surrounding myself with talented and creative people. I guess that’s why I’ve started this writing project. I want to share what I’ve learned so far and motivate myself to learn more.

Some of the best advice I’ve received from people I look up to recently is to be genuine and honest when it comes to sharing our thoughts and experience with others. In that spirit, I hope this can be a place to share my process of learning and growing as a musician with anyone interested in following along!
